The Fuel pump is always one of those things, all the superchips style modifications recommend when you tweak the performance of any car.
It’s a belt and braces approach to tuning, make sure you have enough fuel supplied to the injectors and you reduce the chances of knock in the engine.
Knock can catastrophically damage your engine and you wont necessarily hear it until it’s too late and the damage has been done.
The Fuel pump alone won’t fix this, as if you have increased your boost pressure considerably the injectors flow rate becomes the limiting factor, but it will help maintain a consistent flow across the rev range.
Consider the RC injectors, I chose the 550cc ones but the size depends on the ultimate state of tune you are heading for. They might seem expensive, but cheap alternatives may give unpredictable results, ie: poor idle flow control, leading to MOT failure due to high emissions.
Replacing the standard Fuel pressure regulator should also be considered as part of any fuel delivery upgrade.
Don’t forget to change the fuel filter as well, a pig to change on the GTO/3000GT for a major service item, but a worth while thing to do as I have seen them quite badly blocked.
I have done everything above, but the fuel pump, but upon replacing it, noticed a significant change in the performance profile after changing the pump to the Denso one above.
